Every year as October drifts in and the air turns golden, I start to feel that familiar pull—it’s time for our Halloween photoshoot.
As a Miami family photographer, Halloween has always been one of my favorite seasons to create in. It’s that one time of year when imagination runs wild, when my girls and I get to dream up something playful and cinematic together. Every October, without fail, we head out for our witch photoshoot—a yearly tradition that’s become a part of our story.
It all began when my daughters were little. I’d set up my tripod in a field and chase them around in our flowy black dresses, laughter spilling into the wind. What started as a creative idea quickly turned into one of our most cherished family photography traditions. Some years, we add ghost sheets or pumpkin heads, but the witch-themed photoshoots always hold a special kind of magic.
We run through the grass, our skirts swirling, hair tangled by the breeze. I set up my camera, press the timer, and jump into the frame with them—not just as a photographer, but as their mom, their friend, their fellow witch. We dance, we laugh, we play pretend. And every image becomes a keepsake of our connection—a mother and daughter photoshoot that captures our creativity, our bond, and our love for storytelling.
These Halloween photos have become a time capsule for us. Looking back, I can tell exactly which year it was—the one with the fog machine, the pumpkin props, or the year Ruby insisted her broom really could fly. Each one marks another season of growth, laughter, and love.
As a creative mom photographer, I treasure how these moments remind me why I fell in love with photography in the first place. It’s not just about posing or perfection—it’s about heart, connection, and the freedom to create together.
