A Rainy Elopement at Oleta River State Park

Type of session: Elopement

Shooting Eric and Sarah's elopement was nothing short of magical. They traveled all the way from Tampa to Miami, bringing along Eric's three daughters for an intimate ceremony that I'll never forget. The Ancient Spanish Monastery served as our first breathtaking backdrop, where they exchanged vows in a ceremony that was both intimate and profoundly beautiful. Given just two hours for their elopement, we aimed to make every minute count.

After the ceremony, we wanted to capture the essence of their celebration in a setting that matched their dream of a beach vibe. So, I suggested Oleta River State Park, and it was a hit! Sarah had this gorgeous cake, a labor of love from her sister, and they were all set to enjoy some champagne by the beach. Though it started raining as we arrived, there was no dampening their spirits. We took refuge under a shelter, setting up the cake and champagne, not letting the rain stop us.

As we moved to take photos by the beach, the light rain added a layer of romance and adventure to the shoot. Then, as if on cue, it began to pour. But Sarah and Eric? They just embraced it. Turning on their song for the first dance, they danced under the rain. Capturing these moments, as they celebrated love unbothered by the storm, was incredibly moving.

Elopements and micro weddings are truly special. They offer a chance to really connect with my clients, capturing the essence of their love in these intimate settings. Eric and Sarah's day was a testament to the beauty of embracing the moment, rain or shine, proving that love knows no bounds.
